My Message

I’ve started my E-kettle a little later than usual, here on December 8th, but 2019 has been a very busy and challenging year. Two more busy weeks and then things will start to taper off…

This is my 11th year running a Virtual Kettle for Salvation Army and I still really enjoy doing it – there are several reminders in late November that Christmas season is coming, but once I set up the E-kettle, I know that we are in full swing.

For me personally, Christmas remains an important time of year and generally am able to get past the commercial aspects to focus on what is important – it’s a time to pause and reflect upon how fortunate we are, all things considered. I hope that everyone uses this time to relax with friends and family and really enjoy the holiday season.

As always, I like to tie this E-kettle to quote one of my favourite lines from Dicken's "A Christmas Carol":

... "a few of us are endeavouring to raise a fund to buy the Poor some meat and drink and means of warmth. We choose this time, because it is a time, of all others, when Want is keenly felt, and Abundance rejoices. What shall I put you down for?"

Please help fill my virtual kettle in support of The Salvation Army Christmas Campaign. The Salvation Army believes that human dignity is a fundamental right for all. When you give, you are helping support access to basic rights, such as nutritious food, health care, education and economic opportunity. And remember - your donation will help vulnerable people in your local community, at Christmas and throughout the year. By filling my virtual kettle, you can help restore hope and dignity to thousands of Canadians.
